Special Event Liability
Provides you with protection for third party bodily injury and property damage arising out of an event. Whether someone falls and gets hurt or does damage to someone else’s property, we can provide protection by assuming the risk of legal claims brought by a third party. We can cover many types of events from fairs and festivals, consumer shows, fundraisers, dances, meetings, luncheons, parties, weddings, and more.
How do I apply for a quote?
How long does it take to get a quote?
- If the event fits within the automated underwriting criteria, the quote will be released instantaneously.
- When criteria are not met for the automated system and all necessary information has been provided, in some cases, a quote may be provided in two to three business days of application submission of the application, assuming.
How far in advance should I submit an application?
- As a general best practice, we recommend
- 1-2 weeks prior to the event for low-risk events, and
- 6-8 weeks prior to the event for high-risk events.
- Binding, payment, and any outstanding information must be received prior to the start of the event.
- Applications submitted closer to the event start date will be quoted and delivered in as timely manner as possible.

General Liability (GL) & Other Coverage Options
- General Liability
- Spectator GL Limits: $1M/$2M and $2M/$2M to $10M/$10M
- Participant* GL Limits: $1M/$1M limits maximum (see additional restrictions below*).
- Excess Accident Medical Coverage
- Spectators: $5,000
- Participants: 2 options, $10,000 or $25,000
- Broader availability than GL for participants.
- Must be issued in combination with either Spectator or Participant GL.
- Stand-alone policies are not available.
- Liquor Liability
- Must be issued in combination with either Spectator or Participant GL.
- Stand-alone policies are not available.
- HNOA
- Must be issued in combination with either Spectator or Participant GL.
- Stand-alone policies are not available.
- Additional Insureds
- One time charge of $100
- Can include all necessary Additional Insureds, as required by contract.
- Contract must be submitted for review.
- Waiver of subrogation
- $100 charge
- Rented Equipment (typically purchased for higher valued items)
- A supplemental application is required
- The equipment’s value determines the cost
- Minimum premium is $150.
- The standard deductible is $2,500.
- Damage to Premises Rented to You
- Limits: $300,000 or $1,000,000

*Participant GL coverage is only available for some sporting events and must be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. $1M/$1M GL limits maximum and participant accident medical is required. Request coverage by stating it within one of the free form fields on the application.
Excluded events include:
- Carnivals
- Venue coverage
- Air Shows
- Amusement Parks
Standard Exclusions on the Special Event Liability Form include:
- Medical Payments (additional accident medical coverage is available for spectators and participants)
- Described Hazards
- Securities and Financial Interests
- Collapse of Temporary Structures
- Attendance Limitation Endorsement
- Athletic or Sports Participants (except when endorsed to add coverage back to the policy)
- Abuse and Molestation
- Stunt Exclusion
- Exclusion of Performers
- Field of Entertainment Exclusion
